Matthew Morris

OSS Developer / Technical SDR

I'm building a new kind of open-source CMS (and the first result when you search "CMS" on Hacker News) and the first open-source Lovable. I sell things I believe in and design websites for a living, and take naps, milk cows, and change diapers in my downtime. I also occasionally write about tech, sales, and normie life.

About

I spent the first part of my career building things—websites for universities at NewCity, then my own open-source CMS (PalaCMS) and development tools (TinyKit). Somewhere along the way I realized that building the product was only half the equation, and arguably the easier half.

The harder part—and the part I'm more interested in now—is sales. Not the pushy, tactic-laden version, but sales as genuine service: finding people with problems and offering solutions they haven't considered yet.

I tested this theory by spending a year doing door-to-door solar sales, leading a team, and finishing as the top seller in the region. Turns out I'm better at talking to people than I thought. I also run a web design studio (Corteo Digital) where I handle the full sales cycle from prospecting to onboarding.

Now I'm looking to combine both sides—selling technical products I can actually speak credibly about, ideally in a role where caring about the product and the customer translates into better results.

Outside of work: I milk cows, change diapers, take naps, and occasionally write about sales, tech, and normal life.
